Carson-Neman won the 2021 SAC Championship on March 7, 2021, against Queens with a final score of 88-79. Ren Dyer was leading the team to victory with 20 points for the second time in his career.

“This was not a neutral site event,” head men’s basketball coach Chuck Benson said.

“We had to come on the road in the semifinals and finals to play two defensive-minded veteran clubs. To show the poise, determination and fight speaks volumes about what our people are about.”

“To say I’m proud is the understatement of this basketball season” said Head Coach Chuck Benson.

When the coach gave a Championship box to Danielle Whaley, Associate Director of Athletic Communications, her expression was priceless.

She opened the box and immediately saw the beautiful Championship Ring Top Pendant of the 2021 Carson-Newman Men’s Basketball Championship Ring.

“Oh My! Oh, that’s gorgeous! Thank you!”

Jill Seals, Administrative Assistant, was similarly excited “That is beautiful! Thank you.”

Jordan DeFilippo & Brea McConnel of Marketing & Promotions were surprised to see Coach Chuck, asking when seeing the box “What is this?”

The coach replied, “Well, it’s just a way to say ‘Thank you’ girls [for] everything you do to help.”

He is honoured to have a chance to be a part of [school’s success]. Fowler is grateful for the way Coach Chuck leads [the team] and what he represents. “It’s nice to have a coach who does the right things and still wins too!”
