3-TIME WNBA CHAMPIONS

For the third time in franchise history and the first time since 2010. In 2018 Seattle Storm are Champions of the WNBA!

Led by star players Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart, the Seattle Storm were able to sweep the Washington Mystics 3-0 to bring another Championship Ring home back to the Pacific Northwest.

With the WNBA format being a best of 5 series, game 1 is very important to get ahead early in the series.

What’s more, Game 1 for the Seattle Storm was arguably their best game of the final. Being that, the team led by Jewell Loyd and Breanna Stweart. The Storm were able to pull away from the Mystics early in the second quarter and never looked back.

As a matter of fact, Bird and Stewart, are both University of Connecticut Alumni. They were able to combine their youth and experience. As a result, to help the Storm finish the series off as the number 1 seed following a great regular season that saw the Storm finish with a 26-8 record.

From there all it took was a 3-2 series win over the Phoenix Mercury before the sweep of the Mystics in the finals.

In the end, Breanna Stewart took home the finals MVP award, adding to her astonishing list of personal and team awards that she has already won in her young WNBA career.

2020 WNBA Four-time CHAMPIONS

The 2020 WNBA season was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, it was business as usual for the Seattle Storm as they marched through the competition on their path to Championship Ring number 4.

The entirety of the WNBA regular season, along with the playoffs, was played at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

This is just about as far away from Seattle as you could possibly go in the USA. However, the Seattle Storm were up to the challenge from the get-go.

Through the 22 games WNBA regular season, the Seattle Storm finished tied for 1st place with a record of 18-4.

Although, only outdone by the future finalist Las Vegas Aces on a head-to-head tiebreaker.

The regular season was highlighted by a 9 game winning streak to start the month of August, with the last 5 coming by 15+ points.

It was clear then in early August that the Seattle Storm were destined for a long playoff run yet again in 2020.

Other season highlights include team MVP Breanna Stewart leading the team in scoring 15 times in just 24 games, once scoring 29 in a single game.

SEATTLE BASKETBALL

The Seattle Storm are one of the proudest WNBA franchises, and with Championships in 2018 and 2020 they continue to add to their repertoire.

The Storm are also the only active WNBA franchise to never lose in the WNBA finals, capturing a Championship Ring in all four trips the team has made (2004, 2010, 2018, 2020).

With the departure of the Seattle Supersonics (NBA) in 2008, the Storm has continued to captivate and impress basketball fans in the area. Significantly, proving that Seattle is a great Basketball City and the home of Basketball Champions.
