August 5, 2024 — Team Canada has announced the upcoming 2023 Billie Jean King Cup victory is set to be celebrated in style during the National Bank Open presented by Rogers (NBO) in Toronto and Montreal on August 8, 2024.

To be part of the historical celebrations, Baron® would like to unveil 5 Tennis Championship Rings and their stories. Additionally, Tennis Canada has teamed up with Baron® Championship Rings for the official 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Championship Rings for the upcoming ring ceremony.

2023 Tennis Canada Billie Jean King Cup Championship Ring’s Story of the Ring’s Details:  The top of the 2023 Tennis Canada Billie Jean King Cup Championship Ring features a maple leaf encrusted with red stones atop the Billie Jean King Cup. It is framed by the golden titles “World” and “Championship,” surrounded by diamonds. Wrapping along the ring are the words “First Ever,” the recipient’s last name, and red stones. One side shows the golden “2023” year of the Billie Jean King Cup Championship tennis tournament and the golden “Billie Jean King Cup” championship wording on a golden backdrop. The other side features the golden “Team Canada” with the golden Tennis Canada logo on a golden backdrop.

In the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals, Team Canada presented by Sobeys dominated their matches, defeating Spain and Poland to claim the top spot in Group C and secure a spot in the semi-finals for the first time since 1988. They continued their winning streak by triumphing over Czechia in the semi-finals and Italy in the Championship match, ultimately seizing Canada’s first Billie Jean King Cup title.

Canada has now secured a spot in the Finals for the third consecutive year, showcasing a stellar team composed of

As reigning World Champions, they earned a berth in the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Finals.

Tennis Canada’s 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Ring Ceremony

Tennis Canada has announced that the upcoming 2023 Billie Jean King Cup victory will be celebrated in style during the National Bank Open presented by Rogers (NBO) in Toronto and Montreal on August 8, 2024.

The on-court ceremony is set to begin at 6:40 p.m. whereas attendees need to be seated by 6:30 p.m. In celebration of this event, fans are encouraged to wear red during the night ceremony on Tuesday, August 6, to show their Canadian pride. As a matter of fact, the CN Tower will be lit up in red to be part of the celebrations too.

“As was the case last year when we celebrated Canada’s maiden Davis Cup title at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers, we could not be prouder to honour our first-ever Billie Jean King Cup Champions at Sobeys Stadium this year,” said Karl Hale, Tournament Director, NBO Toronto.

“This incredible victory deserves to be acknowledged in the most special way possible, and what better platform than the opening night of Canada’s biggest and most prestigious tournament. We cannot wait to celebrate the achievements of Leylah, Gaby, Rebecca, Eugenie, Marina and Heidi.”

On-court ceremonies will take place in both cities, and fans will have the opportunity to see the trophy up close at dedicated on-site activations. Leylah Annie Fernandez (Laval, QC), Gabriela Dabrowski (Ottawa, ON), Rebecca Marino (Vancouver, BC), Eugenie Bouchard (Montreal, QC), Marina Stakusic (Toronto, ON) and captain Heidi El Tabakh (Toronto, ON) will be presented with their 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Championship Rings.

The tennis rings, designed and crafted by Baron®, will be presented in front of a full crowd at Sobeys Stadium before the first match of the night session on Tuesday, August 6 as part of Opening Night presented by Sobeys.

The ceremony will perfectly encapsulate the NBO WTA campaign, which states “It’s not the best of women’s tennis. It’s the best of tennis. Period.” This NBO WTA campaign is set to inspire women and girls across the country.

As a special tribute, a group of past and present Canadian Billie Jean King Cup players will join the World Champions on-court to celebrate this amazing event. Additionally, this group had just received personalized World Champions pins earlier this year.

In addition, support staff who accompanied the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup team on their journey to the title will be in attendance at the celebrations. Along with Bianca Andreescu (Mississauga, ON) and Katherine Sebov (Toronto, ON), who were part of Team Canada for last April’s Qualifier tie in Vancouver, will also receive 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Championship Rings.

“Although the National Bank Open in Montreal is hosting the ATP event this year, we are very excited to offer our fans the chance to celebrate this historic win,” said Valerie Tetreault, Tournament Director, NBO Montreal. “The Billie Jean King Cup title might have been won on-court by our stellar team, but there was a whole nation cheering on that team and therefore, we want to make sure that as many tennis fans as possible have a chance to see the trophy. We are also looking forward to an evening of reunion on Sunday night as we will welcome on-court all former BJK Cup players and captain from Quebec, to recognize that they helped pave the way to this incredible achievement.”

El Capitan High School Vaqueros received the 2021 CIF Championship title. The Vaqueros defeated Fallbrook Warriors by a score of 11-6 to capture the CIF Division III Championship at the Barnes Tennis Center. The coed format features boys singles, girls singles, boys doubles, girls doubles and mixed doubles. This marks the first Championship title for the El Capitan High School girls and boys tennis.

2.John Marshall High School – 2021

John Marshall High School’s girl’s tennis has received the CIF DIV I 2021-2022 Championship title.

Mater Dei Monarchs girls tennis received their 2022 CIF Southern Section State Championship title. The girl’s tennis team followed the CIF Championship win with another win in 2023.

4. Long Beach Polytechnic High School – 2021

The Long Beach Poly girls’ tennis team made history in 2021 by winning the CIF-SS Championship. In a nail-biting match, the Jackrabbits defeated San Dimas 10-8 in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 finals.
