CIF Basketball Championship Ring

March 6, 2023, Chico, Califonia  –  Pleasant Valley Boys Basketball team are 2022 State Champions.

The Vikings defeated Venice Gondoliers Varsity Boys Basketball 57-53 in the CIF Division III State Finals at the Golden 1 Center.

“It was a game of runs,” Gondoliers coach David Galley said.

Galley continued.

“We hit five 3s in the first quarter, they made a comeback. … That was one of the best coached teams I’ve faced and that’s why they were successful.” (MaxPreps – CIF high school basketball: Pleasant Valley beats Venice 57-53, grabs second state title in five years)

It was noted that Joyce opened the fourth quarter with a second NBA 3-pointer, one of four triplets of the night. He mentioned he had tried a 3-pointer in the last game. He finished the game with 14 points.

“It’s surreal,” Guard Ned Joyce said. “After we won it, it didn’t really feel real. It has taken me until now to realize we’re Champs.”

Basketball Ring Ceremony

As the team opened their Championship Ring Boxes, observers noted the team’s reaction as priceless.

As the Boy’s Basketball team’s second State Championship in four years.

In the first State Basketball Championship, the Vikings took the court at the Golden One Center and defeated Notre Dame of Riverside, 70-65. As a result, earning the 2018 CIF Division III State Champion title.

“”Well this one’s better because it says 2022 instead of 2018,” Kremer joked about both Championship Rings.

Head Coach Tim coached both the 2018 and 2022 basketball teams. Keating remembers the Champoinship journey to the top was difficult.

“I told the media in 2018, it was the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest,” Coach Keating said. “A monumental achievement. This year was the same.”

The 2022 Champions were undefeated. The team won a section title and five playoff games to secure the State Championship.

For their victory, Coach Keating offered a few words of wisdom.

“Stay humble, stay positive and work hard in whatever you set yourself to accomplish,” said Keating.

  • Boys Baseball: 2022 Northern Section CIF D-II Championship
  • Girls Softball: 2022 Northern Section D-III Champions
  • Boys Tennis: 2022 NSCIF Boys Tennis Doubles Championship
  • Justin Topp and Rafael Wenslaff, along with teacher Mike Peck took Bronze at the National Skills USA Video Production competition (2022)

Pleasant Valley High School Basketball Championship Ring

The Pleasant Valley High School Championship Ring Celebration included the team celebrating together their victory with their families, swimming, and a delicious meal.

“I was wondering how big it was going to be and if it was going to fit my finger, which luckily it does,” Forward Luke Kremer said.

“It’s a great memory that they’re going to cherish forever,” Head Coach Tim Keating said. “It was great seeing the kids reactions when they opened the rings.”

As for the Boy’s Basketball team seeing one another after some time.

“It didn’t feel like we didn’t see each other for three months,” Joyce said. “It felt like we were just at practice the other day. We were just scrimmaging. These guys are my brothers. These guys are family.”

While some of the players are off to college, others starting another school year, the team was enthusiastic to be able to share the wonderful victory with the team’s custom Basketball Championship Ring.
