2024 Binghamton Black Bears Commissioner’s Cup Championship Ring

January 6, 2025 — Baron® Championship Rings is honored to have been chosen to create and manufacture the 2024 Binghamton Black Bears Commissioner’s Cup Championship Rings. This marks the first Commissioner’s Cup Championship in the franchise’s history!

The Binghamton Black Bears achieved a historic sweep of the Carolina Thunderbirds, clinching the 2024 Commissioner’s Cup with a 3-0 series final and demonstrating their dominance throughout the postseason.

The Commissioner’s Cup is the trophy awarded each year to the playoff Champion of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL). The FPHL first presented it in the 2010-2011 season.

This was Carolina’s third playoff appearance since winning the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup. In 2023, they faced the Danbury Hat Tricks, the reigning Commissioner’s Cup Champions. Additionally, this marked the Black Bears’ first appearance in the playoffs.

The Black Bears had a chance to celebrate their Championship with their fans outside of the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena. WBNG reported one of the Black Bears fan reflected on seeing the cup in person, “A lot of people supporting the team, and seeing the cup on the table and its just, I touched it Friday night, and it’s just amazing. I still can’t believe it.”

Binghamton Black Bears’ journey to the Commissioner’s Cup Championship

Congratulations to the Binghamton Black Bears for winning the 2024 Commissioner’s Cup and receiving a custom Commissioner’s Cup Championship Ring that reflects their legacy as the first team in franchise history to claim this title.

The Black Bears’ journey to the Commissioner’s Cup Championship began eight months earlier, with Head Coach Brant Sherwood’s strategic recruiting and team leadership laying the groundwork for their success during the summer months.

Forty players from around the world came together in Binghamton, and they started practicing at the nearby Chenango Ice House. The Black Bears named Tyson Kirkby as their captain, marking him as the second captain in franchise history, while Jesse Anderson and JT Walters were appointed as assistant captains.

The team showcased resilience with numerous come-from-behind victories and achieved milestones:

• first-ever playoff sellout
• league-record attendance
• record-setting postseason performance with a perfect 7-0-0 postseason record

2024 Binghamton Black Bears Commissioner’s Cup Championship Ring Top:

• A single green stone on Tier 1 represents the Black Bears’ first Commissioner’s Cup Championship.
• Two circular white stones placed on the Commissioner’s Cup trophy signify the two shutouts from the season.
• Six rectangular white stones on the Commissioner’s Cup trophy base represent each season series victory.
• Each white stone on the ring top represents 20 come-from-behind wins.

• The left shoulder displays the player’s number as on the home jersey during the Commissioner’s Cup win.

2024 Binghamton Black Bears Commissioner’s Cup Championship Ring’s Shoulder:

• The right shoulder of the ring prominently features the Binghamton city skyline under the team logo.

2024 Binghamton Black Bears Commissioner’s Cup Championship Ring’s Inside and Shank Engravings:

• The Black Bears’ slogan “Your City, Your Team” is engraved on the ring shank.
• The inside of the ring shows each playoff series result, a “7-0” paired with a broom for the clean postseason sweep, joined by the undefeated “Rally Chair”.

2024 Binghamton Black Bears Commissioner’s Cup Championship Ring’s Wrapping:

• “FPHL” at the top of the cup signifies Binghamton’s first league Championship.
• “607” at the bottom represents the City of Binghamton’s area code.
• Forty-six white stones on the first bevelled band represent each win of the season.
• Seven green stones on each side of the second bevelled band signify each postseason victory.
