The Inaugural 2025 NJCAA Cheerleading Invitational Making History!

On January 16, 2025, the NJCAA proudly announced that Salt Lake Community College will host the inaugural 2025 NJCAA Cheerleading Invitational from January 30 to February 1. This marked a historic milestone for the organization.

In December 2020, the NJCAA Board of Regents designated Competitive Cheer as an emerging sport, and this year’s invitational signifies a significant step forward in its development.

A total of eight NJCAA programs competed in Salt Lake City, with three teams going for the women’s invitational title and five contending for the co-ed invitational title. This event showcased the exceptional talent and spirit of competitive cheerleading at the collegiate level.

“How exciting that we have finally come to the point of a National competition for Competitive Cheer within the NJCAA. It has only taken a few years, but I believe we will continue to grow this sport within our organization,” NJCAA Competitive Cheer Chair Hayley Kobza said.

Louisiana Cheer Force Fire claimed the top spot in the L4 – U16 division of Varsity All-Star’s Summit Championships, proudly securing their title as the 2024 Summit Champions. Following closely behind were Macs Allstar Cheer in second place and Cheer Athletics (Columbus) in third.

The excitement was noticeable, with coaches, choreographers, and the entire team crew cheering from the front row, ensuring flawless execution every step of the way.

2024 Team Australia World Championship Ring

In 2023, the Australian Cheer Union achieved a historic milestone by sending over two National Cheer teams, selected from the country’s elite cheerleaders, to make a significant impact on the international cheerleading scene. The coed team clinched a silver medal, while the All Girl team was crowned WORLD CHAMPIONS!

This marks Australia’s first victory at the ICU World Cheerleading Championship title, showcasing the nation’s rise as a powerhouse in competitive cheerleading. The remarkable results have solidified Australia’s position as a contenders on the global stage, traditionally dominated by the USA, and have inspired Australian cheerleaders to believe that anything is possible.

“We finally achieved our goal of being crowned World Champions,” stated Derrick Turner, the head coach of Team Australia – All Girl, as reported by FloSports.

In preparation for this prestigious competition, the teams dedicated themselves to three intensive training camps in Australia, along with three focused practice sessions just a week before competing in the USA.

Their exceptional ability to craft and flawlessly execute a routine of such high calibre is a testament to their professionalism and sportsmanship. Fast forward to early 2025, and Team Australia proudly stands as Three-Time World Champions!

2024 Granite Hills High School CIF Championship Ring

As of 2025, the Granite Hills High School Cheer team proudly stands as 7-time CIF SD D1 Advanced Champions and the Champions of the 2024 CIF California Southern Regionals. The Varsity Spirit showcased the Granite Hills Eagles taking center stage at the Varsity DI Semi-Finals leading up to the 2024 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championships.

The team coach motivated the squad with powerful words: “This is the culmination of all your hard work. You go out there, seize the opportunity, and walk onto that floor as a family and leave as a family. I believe in you, so believe in yourselves—you’ve got this!”

An Instagram user remarked on how Granite Hills is one of the most consistently respectful and high-achieving programs ever produced in California.

The Lady Eagles decisively secured the Division I Championship at the inaugural CIF finals in 2018. Granite Hills High School dominated the Large Schools Division I Championship. This impressive section title further solidified the team’s strength, following their remarkable Division I Championship victory in the 2019-20 season.
